BASICS
This course is designed for novice computer users and those without any computer
background. Each student will use a computer and receive hands-on training, using various
types of software programs. The course is intended to help students select a computer to
suit their needs, understand the basics of how a computer functions, and which software
products perform different functions. Basic instruction in the use of several software
programs, including Windows '95, Word, and Netscape is provided. Additional $5 material
fee payable to the instructor.

BASIC SPREADSHEETS
Learn spreadsheet fundamentals utilizing Microsoft Excel. Learn how to work with
numbers for budgets, amortization schedules, mileage logs, keeping track of household
inventory, and other various business and personal needs. Concepts and techniques learned
in this course can be applied to other Windows-based spreadsheet programs like Lotus 1-2-3
and to Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh. For the beginning student. Please bring a 3.5

INTERMEDIATE SPREADSHEETS
Explore the more advanced features of Microsoft Excel - data tables, macros, look-up
functions, combining spreadsheets, importing data--to design more complex projects like
checkbook reconciliation, analysis and presentation of imported data. Students will design
individual projects according to their own needs and interests. Concepts and techniques
learned in this course can be applied to other Windows-based spreadsheet programs like
Lotus 1-2-3 and to Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh. Designed for the person with some
experience with spreadsheets and some knowledge of the topics covered in Basic
Spreadsheets.

MICROSOFT ACCESS FOR BEGINNERS
Learn basic elements of Microsoft Access, an interactive relational database management
system. This class will guide you through building a simple database, creating tables and
forms. Also, you will learn to work with data by creating queries. Finally, we learn to
create reports. Students should know basic Windows '95 and be comfortable using a computer
mouse. Additional $26 fee for book payable to the instructor.

WORD FOR WINDOWS - BEGINNER
Learn to produce professional documents quickly and easily. This class will teach you the
basics of word processing. Learn how to layout and format documents; move, edit and proof
text ; discover tricks that transforms your work instantly into an impressive
presentation. Tables will be introduced to set up your own, upgradable telephone
directory. Hands-on experience. Students must be familiar with Windows environment and the

This class will show you how to improve and increase your word processing skills with
advanced techniques. Learn tricks you won't find in a manual. You will create your own
stationary set, including personalized business cards. Learn to create template letters
and use them in mail merge. You will learn to use tables to design forms and even a
resume. Time permitting we will play with graphics. Hands-on experience. Students must be
experienced with Windows environment, basic word processing, and comfortable using a

INTRODUCTION TO QUICKBOOKS

Teaching emphasizes self-study, both in the classroom/lab setting and at home. Work at
home will be required to complete the material. The lab will enable the teacher to work
one-on-one with students. Students may choose to study some or all of the following
topics: Overview of QuickBooks, Setting Up a Company, Working with Lists (technique used
to manage data such as customers, vendors, employees, terms, etc.), Inventory, Invoicing,
Accounts Receivable and Payable, Payroll, Sales Tax, Job Costing, Working with Bank
Accounts, Reporting, and Creating Graphs. Windows based computers will be provided and

Learn about HTML, the language that makes the World Wide Web go around. It is easier than
you might think. How to use software programs like Word, WordPerfect, Frontpage, and
Netscape Communicator to generate a personal web page you can be proud of. Please bring

SMALL BUSINESS NETWORKS FOR THE TECHNICALLY CHALLENGED
Hands on experience installing and configuring networking adapter cards in IBM compatible
computers. Learn how to link computers using your existing Windows software very
affordably. Networking allows sharing of expensive components, like printers, large hard
drives, CD Roms, and backup tape or zip drives, as well as simpify back-ups. Electronic
safety, basic networking technology and strategies sources of equipment, support, other
software, security and legal issues will be covered. If you have three to ten computers
that you would like to connect, but are afaid to open the cover on your computer and
cannot afford a consultant, this course is for you.
