CAN WE ALL GET
ALONG?
A CONVERSATION ABOUT RACE, GENDER, AND CLASS IN AMERICA TODAY. Danni Minteer, M.Ed, a
member of staff at Highpoint Resources, is offering a reading and discussion group for
adults who would like to develop a better understanding of race, gender, and class and
their impact on our lives. We will analyze how we identify and perceive "the
Other" (people who we precieve to be different than we are), and how this
consciousness is in turn translated into personal behavior and public policy. At the
crossroads of the humanities and the social sciences, culture and politics, we will
discuss our life experience, insights, present concerns, and hopes for the future. With a
state proposition Affirmitive Action I-200 on the fall ballot to determine the future of
affirmative action in Washington, this group has particular relevance today. 2Paperback
books required. $3 fee for materials payable to the instructor.
