Mission Statement


The Bainbridge Island Resilient Community Network is a group of volunteers, both individuals and representatives of organizations, from the Bainbridge Island community.

Mission and Purpose

  • Build community resilience to cope with unpredictable changes and emergencies
  • Create awareness in the community about the issues of the Year 2000 computer problem and other emergency situations
  • Coordinate with existing organizations and agencies
  • Promote preparation that will help to create a spirit of cooperation and relatedness

Objectives:

  • Educate, inspire and empower the members of our community so we can establish and maintain a functioning and healthy community during times of natural and/or man-made disruptions.
  • Serve as a resource center for communication and current, accurate information.
  • Provide follow-through for the Bainbridge Island and Kitsap County emergency preparedness campaigns

Strategy:

  • Assess our resources as a community
  • Share information related to emergency preparedness through meetings, workshops, printed materials, and Internet web site
  • Prepare for different scenarios
  • Design and implement media campaign
  • Build on our existing networks and resources
  • Assist the City and County in organizing and coordinating neighborhood groups
