Mission Statement
The Bainbridge Island Resilient Community Network is a group of volunteers,
both individuals and representatives of organizations, from the Bainbridge
Island community.
Mission and Purpose
- Build community resilience to cope with unpredictable changes and
emergencies
- Create awareness in the community about the issues of
the Year 2000 computer problem and other emergency situations
- Coordinate with existing organizations and agencies
- Promote preparation that will help to create a spirit of cooperation and
relatedness
Objectives:
- Educate, inspire and empower the members of our community so we can
establish and maintain a functioning and healthy community during times of
natural and/or man-made disruptions.
- Serve as a resource center for communication and current, accurate
information.
- Provide follow-through for the Bainbridge Island and Kitsap County
emergency preparedness campaigns
Strategy:
- Assess our resources as a community
- Share information related to emergency preparedness through meetings,
workshops, printed materials, and Internet web site
- Prepare for different scenarios
- Design and implement media campaign
- Build on our existing networks and resources
- Assist the City and County in organizing and coordinating neighborhood
groups
